Natural Grocers is opening its first location in South Dakota later this month.

The Sioux Falls grand opening, slated for July 27, brings Natural Grocers' store count to 163 locations in 21 states. The chain focuses on natural and organic items.

"With its beautiful natural landscape, abundant outdoor activities and a vibrant cultural and food scene, Sioux Falls is a great fit for the first Natural Grocers store in South Dakota," VP of Marketing Raquel Isely said in a statement.

The South Dakota store will feature a “contemporary layout, with a modern and efficient checkout experience," the company said. The space has been “repurposed” with sustainable building features and energy-saving innovations, such as ecologically sensitive building materials and 100% LED lighting.

The chain is known for its commitment to its food-sourcing standards. The Sioux Falls store will sell certified organic produce, organic and natural groceries, free-range eggs and pasture-based dairy, as well as non-GMO prepackaged bulk goods, dietary supplements, body care and household essentials.

Additionally, Natural Grocers will offer free nutrition education to its shoppers in the form of one-on-one personalized nutritional health coaching sessions from the retailer's Nutritional Health Coaches. There will also be a community room at the new location for in-person classes and guest speakers.

To further support its new community, Natural Grocers will partner with hunger relief organization Feeding South Dakota.

“We're excited to meet the community and offer an engaging, friendly shopping experience with our world-class customer service,” said Isely.

Natural Grocers and the Sioux Falls community will celebrate store's grand opening with discounts, gift card giveaways and prize sweepstakes.
