With an aim to inspire families to eat at home together more often, Rosie and its independent retailer partners are celebrating National Family Meals Month in September. National Family Meals Month encourages customers to share one more meal together per week at home, and highlights simple, healthy meal solutions in nearly every aisle, every day.

Broulim’s Fresh Foods, Buehler’s Fresh Foods, Dash’s Market, Davis Food & Drug, Foodie’s Markets, Highland Park Market, Lee’s Marketplace, Lin’s Fresh Market, Maceys, Swensen’s Magic Markets, and Trumansburg Shur-Save are collaborating with Rosie to promote National Family Meals Month.

To celebrate the final two weeks of National Family Meals Month, Rosie is sponsoring a Family Meals Photo Contest. Contestants submit a photo of their family sharing a meal and “raising a mitt to commit” via a special page on Rosie’s website. Participants can then post their videos to social media using the “share” button on the page. Rosie will select five winners at random to each receive a $100 Rosie gift card.

“Rosie is pleased to cooperate with our retailer partners on this important program,” says Rosie CEO Nick Nickitas. “Independent retailers and Rosie together provide a locally-sourced mobile/online grocery shopping service that is trustworthy, smart, personalized, and convenient so that intimate and critical needs for sustenance are anticipated and fulfilled during National Family Meals Month, saving time and supporting quality of life.”

Numerous studies underscore the long-term health, academic, and societal benefits of consistently eating together as a family, yet, according to a 2013 Harris poll, only 30 percent of American families share dinner every night. In addition, recent research proves that people who frequently cook at home eat fewer, healthier calories.

“Interest in creating more opportunities for families to eat meals together is at a critical point in our society,” says Leslie Sarasin, president and CEO of the Food Marketing Institute, creator of National Family Meals Month. “The will to return to the table exists, but families need a friendly, familiar voice to encourage, guide, and help them. That voice comes from their neighborhood grocer.”
