Stores seek to be a savings destination for floral, wine, spirits and more. A "bridal wave" of pent-up demand for pandemic-postponed nuptials is coming, creating an opportunity for grocers in floral, catering, adult beverages and more.

Talk about pent-up desire. Media outlets from Brides to Fortune to CNBC are forecasting a “bridal wave” of demand for in-person weddings through the rest of this year and next—and for all that comes with such events, from spending on flowers, wine and spirits to catering business and much more. With 2021's fall wedding boom underway, Save Mart and Lucky California stores are aiming to be a destination for savings in floral, food and adult beverages. 

Timothy Chi, CEO of The Knot Worldwide, told CNBC in July that he expects a 20% to 25% increase in weddings this year and in 2022. To address the coming demand as well as consumer price sensitivity in the wake of the pandemic, Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart and Lucky California stores are promoting a wedding flower program throughout Northern and Central California and Northern Nevada that is aimed at helping couples create stunning floral bouquets and arrangements while saving big, say The Save Mart Cos.-owned stores.

“Choosing wedding flowers from Save Mart and Lucky California’s curated collections of gorgeous arrangements can save up to 50% compared to traditional florist prices,” the company claims. “Save Mart and Lucky California flowers are carefully selected for freshness, hand-cut to order and professionally arranged to look beautiful and elevate the big day.”

Customers have the option of purchasing centerpieces, bouquets and baskets. They can also select a color palette. Wedding flowers can be purchased as part of a package or a la carte.

For additional reception planning, both Save Mart and Lucky California stores are offering a 10% savings on wine and spirits with the purchase of four bottles or more. Save Mart and Lucky California stores also offer a variety of options for custom made-to-order cakes, party trays and other catering products.
