Schnuck Markets is expanding its Flexforce employment option to additional locations in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri after a successful launch at hometown stores in St. Louis, the grocer said.

Schnucks Flexforce is part-time work that allows employees to earn money when they need it. It is designed for workers with limited availability who are still interested in working, the company said.

“Much like rideshare and food delivery service employees, Flexforce teammates are able to seek and claim shifts at the time and location of their choosing,” said Stacy Brandt, Schnucks vice president of store operations, in a statement.

Flexforce optimizes teammates’ work schedules and creates opportunities for growth and learning at their pace, said the company in a release. Schnucks Flexforce employees can select shifts and store locations that fit their schedules and needs. Teammates are able to “view and claim” shifts by logging into Schnucks’ scheduling app, or they can “opt-in to receive notifications of open shifts,” explained the company. Flexforce teammates receive the same benefits and perks as traditional Schnucks teammates including career advancement, the option to be paid after each shift, health benefits (after a qualifying period) and a teammate discount. At this time, part-time flex shifts are for center store (stocking) clerks.

“The Flexforce employment option not only allows us to position our teammates for success, it helps us ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time taking care of and serving our customers,” said Brandt.

Flexforce will now be available in more than 30 locations in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri to employees who are at least 18 years old. Currently, there are 140 Flexforce teammates in the St. Louis metro area, according to Schnucks.

Schnucks operates 114 stores, serving customers in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, and employs 12,000 teammates. Schnuck Markets, Inc. was founded in St. Louis in 1939.
