Tops Expands Contactless Shop + Scan Option to 5 More Stores

Williamsville, N.Y.-based supermarket chain Tops Friendly Markets said it has expanded its contactless shopping offering, Shop Scan, to five additional New York stores. 

Already available in 19 area Tops locations, the service, which keeps a running total of customers' items while they shop, is now also available at the following stores: 3955 Vineyard Dr. in Dunkirk, N.Y.; 3865 Union Rd., Cheektowaga; 5274 Main St., Williamsville, 4250 McKinley Pkwy., Hamburg; and 2300 N. Triphammer Rd., Ithaca. 

Tops described Shop Scan as a user-friendly option for on-the-go customers. “By simply using your phone, you can scan and then bag your items as you shop,” the grocer said in a statement. Beyond seeing a running total of items they've added to their cart, customers will see their savings and rewards applied automatically, the company stated. When finished shopping, customers can visit any pay station for an expedited checkout.

"We are excited to continue the expansion of this innovative new technology and provide it to even more customers throughout our service area," said Jill Sirica, Tops' manager of digital marketing, in a statement. "All you need to do is download the Tops Shop Scan app, connect to our free in-store Wi-Fi, enter your Tops BonusPlus card number, and you are ready to shop. Our hope is to continue the momentum and add additional locations in the near future."
