Tops Promotes Aaron Payne to VP of Marketing and Promotional Strategy

Position is part of the retailer's Shared Services Center, which also supports Price Chopper/Market 32. Payne will oversee the team responsible for creating and implementing all marketing strategies as well as promotional planning for Chopper/Market 32 and Tops operating companies.

Tops Friendly Markets has promoted Aaron Payne to the position of VP of marketing and promotional strategy as part of Shared Services Center (SSC), which supports Tops and Price Chopper/Market 32 following a merger this past fall, the Williamsville, N.Y.-based supermarket chain announced April 28.

Payne will oversee the team responsible for creating and implementing all marketing strategies as well as promotional planning for Chopper/Market 32 and Tops operating companies. “Through collaboration with leadership in marketing, merchandising, IT and the individual operating companies, he will drive initiatives aimed at strengthening our overall market position,” Tops Friendly Markets said in a statement.

Through his 21 years with Tops, Payne, a resident of Amherst, N.Y., most recently was director of advertising.  

Earlier this month, the Williamsville, N.Y.-based supermarket chain announced several other top executive changes. Mike Nugent was appointed to the position of VP of merchandising and Darren Robbins to VP of finance. Jeff Cady was also promoted to the position of VP of produce and floral as part of SSC.
