Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops Friendly Markets held a grand reopening June 13 for its Dunkirk, N.Y,  store at 3955 Vineyard Dr. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the store’s multimillion-dollar renovation project as well as an updated fuel site on the property.

The 65,000-square-foot store is not only centrally located but serves as a cross-population of the community, the retailer said.

“From beachgoers to the students at both SUNY Fredonia (State University of New York at Fredonia) and Jamestown Community College, this renovation marks the 23rd location recently updated with a new look and a renewed focus on fresh departments,” Tops said in a statement.

Tops said enhancements to the store also include product expansion and an enlarged fresh perimeter with updated decor. Other updates and upgrades include energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting both inside and out, solar-powered efficiencies and expanded self-checkouts.

“When it comes to freshness, convenience and variety, you'll find everything here at your newly remodeled Dunkirk store and with all of the inspiring products, including a wider selection of domestic and imported cheeses, custom-cut meats by real butchers, our burger bar, an increased assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries, guests are sure to enjoy all we have to offer,” Scott Obert, store manager, said in a statement.

Store renovations also included an expansion in ready-to-serve convenience produce and vegetables, said Tops, adding that it partners with over 200 local growers, including several in Western New York, and that it supports product grown by New York State farmers, which adhere to the New York State Grown and Certified program’s requirements.

Tops also said it has partnerships with more than 300 local dairy farmers that provide farm-to-table dairy items to its shelves daily.

Tops said shoppers at the Dunkirk location will also have access to an increase of antibiotic-free meat, plant-based options, sustainable seafood selections and a larger selection of certified organic and gluten-free offerings. The grocer also said the deli and carryout cafe areas offer more grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options, as well as prepared salads and sandwiches.

Tops Grocery Pick Up and Delivery and online ordering will all be available at this location, Tops said.  The store's remodel also includes a pharmacy with a new waiting area, which provides a wide variety of services to the community seven days a week, Tops said.

Last month Tops expanded its contactless shopping offering, Shop Scan, to five additional New York stores.
