Wakefern Food Corp. named Parul Aggarwal as the cooperative’s next vice president, controller for Wakefern Financial Services, the Keasbey, New Jersey-based cooperative announced on Wednesday. Aggarwal, a veteran of the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector, will oversee accounting operations and will report to CFO Neil Falcone.

Aggarwal will also head external financial reporting, including quarterly consolidations and certified professional accountant designation from Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) in Toronto.

The announcement comes one day before Mike Stigers takes the helm as the cooperative’s next president. The grocery industry veteran, who most recently served as CEO of retail at UNFI, takes the help Thursday following the retirement of outgoing President Joe Sheridan.

Wakefern Food Corp. began as a small, local cooperative with eight owners and has grown into the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, with members operating more than 300 stores under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Dearborn Market, Gourmet Garage and Fairway Market banners throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England.
