Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets opened its newest store in Bucks County on Jan. 20, proving its mission that opening new stores and remodeling current stores are vital for future growth.

As part of its cap ex plan, the new 46,000-square-foot store at 1133 York Road in Warminster, Pa., will include a fuel center and a beer-wine cafe. The store will employ more than 130 new full- and part-time associates.

“We are pleased to expand our services in Bucks County to offer our customers in Warminster a strong combination of convenience, quality and low prices that help them live better and spend less,” said Kurt Schertle, chief operating officer of Weis Markets. “We appreciate the welcome we’ve received and look forward to serving and becoming active members of the Warminster community.”

Underscoring the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint chainwide, the Warminster store was built with sustainability measures, including energy-efficient LED lighting, CO2 refrigeration, cardboard and plastic recycling and high-efficiency water fixtures.

The retailer said the store will feature a beer cave and wine cafe, as well as a full-service seafood department with lobster tank, organic produce, a full-service deli, in-store bakery and full-service floral.

In celebration of the grand opening, Weis Markets donated $50,000 to Philabundance and $2,500 each to Hartsville Fire Co., Warminster Food Bank and Centennial Baseball Club.

The store offers Weis 2 Go Online ordering with curbside pickup and delivery. Warminster customers will also benefit from Weis’ Low, Low Prices program, which launched in 2019 and lowered the prices on more than 7,000 products to offer the lowest every day price in the market, the retailer said. Weis Markets said the multimillion-dollar investment in low prices is the company’s most ambitious price reduction program to date.

Weis Markets Inc. was founded in 1912 and today employs approximately 23,000 associates. It operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
