Amanda Bauman has been elevated to director of marketing at Weis Markets after leading the Mid-Atlantic grocer’s digital marketing efforts.

Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based Weis Markets announced late last month that Bauman takes over from Maria Rizzo, who in November was promoted to vice president of marketing and advertising. In her new role, Bauman oversees loyalty marketing, data analytics, social media and digital marketing programs.

Before her promotion, Bauman held the title of manager of digital marketing. Weis Markets noted that, in the digital marketing post, she directed the development and launch of online shopping, the upgrade of the Weis mobile app and the enhancement of the retailer’s growing e-coupon program.

Bauman joined Weis Markets in 2003 and has served in a range of advertising and marketing positions leading up to her new appointment.

Rizzo, the previous marketing director, has been with Weis Markets for 14 years and with her promotion succeeded 30-year grocery retail veteran Ron Bonacci, who retired at the end of 2022 after about five-and-a-half years at Weis.

Overall, Weis Markets operates 197 supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
