Whole Foods To Open Two New Stores This Month

Whole Foods Market is opening two new stores in August, including one relocation of an older market.

The new Whole Foods in Pittsburgh, set to open on Wednesday, is a 54,667-square-foot store, located at Liberty East. The store replaces a 20-year-old Whole Foods that had been operating just a few blocks away.

The second new store, slated to open on Aug. 31, is in Culver City, California. The new Whole Foods is 51,413-square-feet and is located at 3377 La Cienega Blvd.

Both stores will have special departments, full-service seafood and meat counters, prepared foods and bakeries.

The Pittsburgh location will feature 120 local suppliers, with products chosen by Whole Foods Market’s Mid-Atlantic Region Local Foragers Kathleen Wood and Daniela D’Ambrosio, the company said. 

On opening day, customers who visit the Pittsburgh store will receive complimentary Steel Cup Coffee and snacks from Zaza’s Biscotti. Also, the first 400 customers will receive gifts cards from $5-$100, as well as a Whole Foods Market East Liberty tote bag. The store will also be hosting a Community Cares donation event with 412 Food Rescue, and will be providing food to members of the community.

In Culver City, the Whole Foods Market will feature more than 1,700 local items from Southern California, chosen by Local Forager for Whole Foods Market’s Southern Pacific Region Elena Garcia. Visitors to the store on opening day will be able to try samples from local suppliers such as Corsa, Keto Krisp, Lumen Wellness Shots, Asha Pops and Chicas Tortilla Chips. In addition, the first 300 customers will receive a tote bag with local supplier samples. 

Whole Foods Market has more than 500 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. There are more than 10 stores in Pennsylvania, and in California (the state with the most Whole Foods Markets) there are more than 90 stores, according to company listings.

Last month, Whole Foods opened a new grocery store in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
