With 32 grams of protein per serving, zero fat, no added sugar and naturally occurring nutrients, these beverages are featured as a meal replacement for all ages. Originating from a traditional Scandinavian recipe, skyr is made from strained skim milk with a similar look and taste to Greek yogurt; Icelandic-style skyr is also protein-rich, fat-free and contains probiotics for healthy digestion, say company officials. Skyr is lower in lactose than other dairy products, thereby providing a safe food for those with dairy sensitivities. “On a hiking trip in Iceland, I discovered the amazing flavor and healthy energy provided by skyr,” says Andrew Buerger, CEO of B’more Organic. “It was the first dairy product that did not aggravate my lactose intolerance and the protein content is incredible. I couldn’t wait to share this protein-rich treat with other active Americans.” The smoothies come in Vanilla, Café Latte, Banana, Mango Banana and Strawberry Banana.
