Hummus Plus delivers beyond the demand, pioneering the category with new protein-packed product that pairs flavorful hummus with seasoned chicken, company officials say. Hummus Plus can be eaten as a meal or a hearty snack, designed for consumers interested in protein, energy and lifestyle power. Hummus Plus brings innovation to the deli, capitalizing on consumer and shopper trends. Thirty percent of Americans are seeking out snack, beverage and food products with higher protein content, driven by a desire for weight loss and satiety. With up to 28-grams of protein and 12-grams of fiber, Hummus Plus delivers strong nutritional benefits and sustained energy, official add. “With more and more consumers prioritizing healthy eating, protein has become a major driver of purchase,” says David Gacom, vice president of sales and marketing at Hummus Plus. “Hummus Plus allows supermarket and deli operators to provide a protein-packed solution for shoppers with fast-paced, active lifestyles looking for convenient meal or snack options.” Hummus Plus is available to supermarket and deli operators on April 1, 2015, in eight-ounce, on-the-go packs in five flavor combinations:  Traditional Hummus Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast  Garlic Hummus Garlic Herb Chicken Breast  Roasted Red Pepper Hummus BBQ Seasoned Chicken Breast  Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus Oven Roasted Chicken Breast  Garlic Hummus Chipotle Chicken Breast Inspired by the Mediterranean diet and made with no artificial flavors or colors, Hummus Plus plays well within a number of categories including grab-and-go, hummus, ready-to-eat salads and meal combos around the perimeter of the grocery store. Recent consumer testing revealed excellent feedback on both the product as well as the two-component packaging (that includes a utensil and napkin makes for easy, on-the-go eating) that is both reusable and microwavable, officials say. “We’re looking forward to introducing Hummus Plus to supermarket retailers and validating the many ways that the product aligns with consumer trends and demands,” says Peter Parthenis, Jr., president and CEO of Pure Mediterranean Foods. “The Hummus Plus brand is a true demonstration of the innovation that will come from Pure Mediterranean Foods as the company continues to evolve and provide innovative solutions for consumers in this emerging market segment.”
