J&J Produce Expands New Facilities 2018-01-01 (1)

In response to significant growth over the past 10 years, J&J Produce is expanding two of their facilities, located in White Pine, Tennessee and Adel, Georgia. With the influx of business and a 33% increase in planted acreage, J&J decided to expand the cooler capacity in the White Pine facility by about 50% through the addition of more refrigerated repacking rooms, new pre-coolers and cucumber and pepper line. They have been in operation already at this location for over 5 years. “With J&J’s movement into the national market, expanding our operations and facilities, and increasing our locally grown volumes, is all apart of the strategic growth plan to help continue our forward movement,” says Brian Rayfield, who is the VP of Business Development and Marketing. While J&J’s “Locally Grown” volumes are typically July through September, they plan to operate the Tennessee facility year round through the improvements made to a better cooling capacity system. With the increased efforts to expand the “Locally Grown” volumes, they will also be running bell peppers and cucumbers on the newly added line, in addition to the repacking of tomatoes and dry and wet vegetables, which were already in place. With their newly expanded facility in Tennessee already underway, J&J also has plans to more than double their cooler capacity at the facility location in Adel, Georgia. J&J manages over 3,000 acres of production from their own farms and has operations in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. They specialize in growing cucumbers, bell peppers, squash, tomatoes and eggplant and have been in operation since 1983.
