Potandon Produce L.L.C., the exclusive marketing agent for the Green Giant brand of fresh potatoes and onions has revealed the details of its Vidalia onion program for the 2016 season.

“This year’s crop is one of the best looking crops we have seen,” says Chris Woo, onion sales manager. Potandon is expecting its 2016 crop to be about three times larger than last year, which should allow for significant growth in the marketplace. A key area for Potandon is the bagged onion segment, which drives sales through the strength of the Green Giant brand.

Potandon introduced a new look to its consumer packaging last season, which has been instrumental in driving growth; a vertical full panel bag. “The Green Giant logo and eye-catching graphics make this onion bag an instant favorite with retailers, especially those who already have Green Giant potato program,” says Ralph Schwartz, vice president of marketing, sales and innovation.

Currently, Green Giant consumer bags are available in 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-pound packs. Stickered jumbo and colossal Vidalia onions are available in 40-pound cartons and 50-pound sacks.

Potandon will start shipping on April 25, the official start date of the season.
