Stonyfield Becomes Official Organic Yogurt Sponsor of the Boston Marathon

2 Min Read

Stonyfield, a leading organic yogurt maker, has taken its place at the starting line of the 118th Boston Marathon as an official sponsor of the race. As part of its sponsorship, the New England-based company is forming Team Stonyfield. It will allow qualified runners who missed the entry cutoff for the historic race to participate. Runners looking to join Team Stonyfield can enter for the chance to win a spot at www.stonyfield.com/teamstonyfield. Through Race Weekend, Stonyfield ambassadors will appear around the course – from the Athletes' Village in Hopkinton to the Family Meeting Area in Boston – handing out samples of Stonyfield Greek Yogurt. An organic source of protein that’s also made without the use of toxic persistent pesticides and GMOs, Stonyfield Greek can help fuel runners throughout the 26.2-mile race. "We're New Englanders with deep roots here. We promote healthy eating and living and even have an employee running team that competes in races across the region – Stonyfield and the Boston Marathon are made for each other," says Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of Stonyfield. "We want to be out there fueling all of the participating runners with our healthy yogurts and lending our spirit to the fans watching from Boston - and everywhere. This year especially, we want to be part of making this the best Marathon yet." That's why Stonyfield is working with Heather Bauer, RD, founder of Bestowed and nutrition author, to share recipes and nutritional tips that work for everyone. "What you eat after a workout is just as important as what you do, and Greek yogurt is one of my favorite post-workout snacks," says Bauer. "Choosing something like a cup of Stonyfield Organic Greek with a honey drizzle or some organic granola is the perfect way to refuel after a long run." Heather will be sharing her tips and healthy recipes regularly at Stonyfield.com/blog. Stonyfield Greek comes in two sizes, 5.3-ounce single cups and 4-ounce 4-packs, and a variety of flavors including Vanilla, Blueberry, Plain, Super Fruits, Strawberry, Chocolate, Peach Mango, Pineapple, Raspberry, Honey, Lemon, and Caramel, as well as new flavors, Black Cherry and Cafe Latte.
