In this 14th year of supporting the American Cancer Society, with the help of company sponsors and members of the community, Tanimura & Antle raised over $170,000 for cancer research in the annual Relay for Life Event. In year’s past, Tanimura & Antle employees and owners have held a variety of fundraising events including BBQ’s, bake sales, tricycle races and raffles to raise money for Relay for Life. This year, the Tanimura & Antle Relay for Life Committee focused their efforts on a single occasion, The George Tanimura Relay for Life Round Up. Event sponsors purchased tickets in honor, or in memory, of a family member or loved one who has battled cancer. “We were able to bring together business partners, employees and family members to celebrate in the name of raising money for cancer research,” says Priscilla Jackson, Relay for Life team captain. The Company took this opportunity to pay tribute to company co-founder and Tanimura Family patriarch, George Tanimura, presenting him with a bronze bust that is now displayed in the company headquarters along with a similar bronze of the Antle Family patriarch, Bud Antle. “George Tanimura is an inspiration to many in the farming and business community. It is a pleasure to honor this fine man,” says CEO and Bud Antle’s grandson, Rick Antle. This year, Tanimura & Antle was honored for their generous support and donations at the annual Celebration of Life Fashion Show, and was recently awarded the first annual “Spirit of Relay” award for their dedication and contributions to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. “I cannot begin to describe how honored we are to have Tanimura & Antle join with the American Cancer Society in our fight against cancer. The tremendous success of the George Tanimura Relay for Life Round Up fundraiser this year is a direct reflection of Tanimura & Antle’s leadership within the community and the produce industry, in addition to their leadership in Relay For Life,” says Jennifer Hyland, Senior Manager, Relay for Life, California Division.
