The Giant Co. is offering a limited-edition cheese made by Caputo Brothers Creamery. Perpetual IPA Beer Cheese is made with Troegs Independent Brewing's dry-hopped Perpetual IPA as well as milk from small dairy farms in Pennsylvania.

“In a time when a lot of us are feeling helpless, we asked ourselves what we can do to make a difference,” said Rynn Caputo, president of Caputo Brothers Creamery, in a local news report. “This partnership with Giant and Troegs has already helped keep two dairy farms running, and as it grows, we have the potential to save even more farms.”

The semi-firm cheese features milk that has been “dry hopped” with Citra hops for a signature flavor and aroma and then, after the cheese is formed, it sits in a beer brine of saltwater and Troeg’s Perpetual IPA, a slightly sweet pale ale, with notes of citrus, pine and subtle toasted grains, for a few days before aging for a month in an aging cave. The wheels are then misted daily with the IPA for a few weeks.

The new variety of beer cheese is now available exclusively at all 186 Giant, Martin’s and Giant Heirloom Market locations. The product will also be available for purchase through Giant Direct and Martin’s Direct.

“The Giant Co. is passionate when it comes to sourcing locally grown and produced products, and we’re incredibly proud of our ongoing Caputo Brothers and Troegs collaboration and the positive impact it is having on our local agriculture industry,” said John Ruane, chief merchandising officer of The Giant Co.. “Our customers loved the first variety we launched last year, and we’re thrilled to introduce this latest flavor that does good in driving more business for our local small food companies and to our dairy farmers.”
