Tillamook Wins ‘America’s Best Colby’

Tillamook won America's Best Colby at the American Cheese Society Conference, making it the second year in a row that Tillamook’s Colby has placed first in the American Cheese category.  logo in a gray background | Jill Allen, Tillamook Dairy Products Quality Manager, explains what makes Tillamook Colby award-winning and unique: “It’s an American made cheese, from an American recipe that reflects the quality of milk used at Tillamook. It is a young cheese that is lightly sweet and clean in taste, has a higher moisture content and is nicely knitted together creating a smooth product.” In addition, Tillamook placed in the following categories:

  • 3rd Place – Mature Cheddar Aged Between 24-48 month

  • 3rd Place – Flavored Monterey Jacks – Hot Habanero Jack

  • 2nd Place – Sweet Cream Unsalted Butter

Additionally, Tillamook recently launched a webpage to educate consumers on the difference between natural vs. processed cheese. The page outlines the types of cheeses that are processed and natural, how they are made and key characteristics.
