The Pear Bureau Northwest's is debuting a recipe video series highlighting the versatility and flavor of USA Pears. Inviting and simple, the videos demonstrate how to blend fresh pears into smoothies, poach them to show off their shape and texture and puree them into soups for a hint of natural sweetness. The videos appeal to consumers seeking healthier, easier meal preparation ideas with on-screen instructions, a clear step-by-step tutorial and a short list of familiar ingredients. “These videos increase the approachability of USA Pears, showing consumers how to put pears on the plate from fall through spring,” says Kathy Stephenson, marketing communications director. “By demonstrating fresh new recipes featuring pears in both savory and sweet applications, we aim to increase pear sales and ignite consumers’ passion for fresh produce as the key to increased wellness.” The Satisfying Pear Soups video introduces pears as a sweet complement to a savory Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Bisque recipe developed by Chef Vitaly Paley of Portland, Ore. In the Perfectly Poached Pears video, viewers learn three simple steps for poaching in liquids from coconut milk to coffee followed by the featured recipe for Tropical Hibiscus Poached Pears, a modern twist on a traditional dessert. The third video, Simple Pear Smoothies, features a Creamy Pear and Hazelnut Smoothie as a better-for-you breakfast example.   The videos are featured on the USA Pears YouTube channel and can also be found on Facebook and the USA Pears website, where viewers can find additional recipes for pear smoothies, soups, poaching and beyond.
