Wish Farms will extend its berry program this season. As a national produce grower, shipper and year-round supplier of strawberries and blueberries, Wish Farms now offers conventional and organic varieties of blackberries.

In an effort to respond to common customer requests to extend the berry program, Wish Farms is making a natural transition to broaden the types of berries the company offers.

“Blackberries are the perfect complement to our year-round berry program,” says Gary Wishnatzki, owner of Wish Farms. “In just one phone call, customers can now choose to order an assortment of berries.”

The Mexico blackberry season will span from the beginning of October to the end of May and will segue perfectly into the domestic season when blackberries from Georgia, North Carolina and California will be available mid-May through September.

“Growers are excited to work with the Wish Farms brand,” says Jose Saca, director of blackberry and raspberry operations at Wish Farms. “We are partnering with the best growers for quality, and we hold ourselves to the highest food safety standards with all fruit coming through one of our Wish Farms facilities to be inspected by our quality control team.” After working in the industry for more than a decade, Saca has the experience and connections needed to kick off the company’s new program.

The company has also introduced the elongated blackberry clamshell. Similar to the existing raspberry 12-ounce flat pack, this elongated clamshell will provide a cleaner look across the berry case, say company officials.

To complete the berry patch, Wish Farms projects a long-term goal to establish a year-round raspberry program.
