WPRawl-90year-color2WP Rawl, in a continued commitment to growing the leafy greens category, is upgrading its greens’ production lines at its Pelion, S.C. headquarters. The updates will increase the company’s capacity—almost doubling its current capabilities. As the company prides itself with high food safety standards, one of the compelling reasons for initiating the update was continued excellence in compliance with the latest standards. With the expansion also comes more business growth potential and higher efficiencies overall. The newly installed production lines feature the most current and up-to-date processing in the fresh-cut industry. These production lines are designed for optimum production while ensuring the maximum in food safety and quality fresh product for their customers. Although the fresh industry allows for a single wash process, WP Rawl demanded two. The two-step wash process and fresh water rinse prior to drying and packaging ensure that only the nutrients, flavor and the color Mother Nature intended are being placed in packages without compromise. All of this thorough washing and processing is delivered gently without damage to the leaf structure, ensuring the freshest product on the market with the highest consideration to food safety. “Everything we do at WP Rawl, we do with the consumer in mind,” says Jim Zurbey, director of plant operations at WP Rawl. “Our overall efficiency and product quality will benefit from this state-of-the art revamp, which ultimately benefits our customers and the end consumer.” The updates will help WP Rawl’s lines run at a higher efficiency, allowing for increased production, and are expected to be completed over the next few months. Business continues as usual during the revamp.
