Yerecic Label’s design for Mastronardi Produce’s Sunset Campari tomato brand earned the New Kensington, Pa., label manufacturer and designer its first World Label Award.

The annual competition, produced by the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI), attracts entries from around the globe.

“In sales, we often find it’s not what we say about ourselves that really matters, it’s what others say about us that matters,” Yerecic Label President Art Yerecic said in a statement. “This World Label Award [confirms] we produce world-class quality labels.”

Yerecic said it is fitting that his company’s entry for Mastronardi Produce’s Sunset Campari brand was with its Easy Fresh Cooking inspired label, which is part of Yerecic Label’s flagship product line. The concept of utilizing a finished dish photo, recipe and key customer information helps to entice, inform and inspire shoppers at the point of purchase.

Six associations participate in the competition, and there are six judges, one from each association. In order to submit for a World Label Award, each label must first win a first-place award in their respective association. Seventy-two entries were submitted in 21 classes, with Yerecic winning in Class 21 for booklet labels.

“Winning an award in the [World Label Award] competition is highly respected throughout the worldwide label industry, indicating that the label converter has achieved a high level of competence in label production,” said Tony White, the chairman of the World Label Award judging panel. “The awards not only reflect the achievements of the label printer but also the whole production process ... from design to finishing.”
