Armour recently honored an unsung hero. The brand hosted a surprise event at the Fiesta Bowl Museum in Scottsdale, Ariz. to recognize Eve Vance as part of the brand's campaign to recognize "Great Moms" across the country.

As a Special Olympics coach and the mother of two daughters, Vance has positively impacted the lives of those she coaches, and instilled in her daughters how important it is to help others, say company officials.

Vance not only coaches, but has become a mentor, friend, and teammate to many in the Special Olympics community. Her tireless efforts have allowed a multitude of individuals to gain confidence and self-worth through sports competitions. These actions have also lead to a few one-of-a-kind experiences including carrying the Olympic torch and playing soccer in Brazil.

Vance was celebrated by Armour in front of her family, friends, co-workers, and the families of those she coaches. To recognize her for being a "Great Mom" and community leader, Armour surprised Vance with $2,500 in free groceries at Albertsons Safeway.

"Eve Vance exemplifies the spirit of the Armour 'Great Moms' campaign," says Jennifer Zmrhal, Smithfield Foods senior director of marketing. "She has not only shown dedication to coaching, but is also a great mom to her daughters. We are honored to partner with Albertsons Safeway to celebrate and reward Ms. Vance with $2,500 in free groceries."

The Armour "Great Moms" campaign is a national program designed to highlight and reward everyday great moms across the country by recognizing and showing appreciation for these unsung champions. The campaign includes monthly events through November to surprise and celebrate "Great Moms" across the country for their extraordinary efforts in their communities and at home.

"This really means a lot," says Vance. "Being a mother really gives me a sense of pride. I try to instill life values, love and support to my own children and to the children I coach.  This is fabulous that Armour does this for moms. Today's gift will help my family, but really help the others that I support through Special Olympics."

Armour is currently hosting the "Great Moms" sweepstakes. From now through Nov. 30, consumers can look for specially marked Armour products or go online to enter for a chance to win up to $5,000 in free groceries. No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes.
