Heritage Grocers Group opens El Rancho Supermercado in Dallas

El Rancho Supermercado opened its 29th store on Wednesday in Dallas.
The opening comes just a few months after parent company Heritage Grocers Group purchased the chain in June. Heritage also owns 57 Cardenas Markets stores, 21 Tony’s Fresh Market stores and seven stores under the Los Altos Ranch Market banner.
“The opening of this store will be a homecoming for me, and I am thrilled that Heritage is expanding its presence in my home state of Texas with the opening of El Rancho Supermercado’s 29th store,” said Doug Sanders, chairman and CEO of Heritage Grocers Group, in a statement. “We strive to deliver an exceptional shopping experience where our customers will find a wide assortment of fresh and authentic products reflective of their local community.”
The 18,000-square-foot store opened with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and featured comments from local elected officials and other dignitaries.
The store also includes:
A produce department with fruits and vegetables from the United States and Latin America.
A full-service meat department.
A Mexican cocina with carnitas, tamales and a taquería.
A bakery with freshly baked pastries, desserts, cakes, pan dulce and bolillos.
A palapa with agua frescas.
And a variety of piñatas and balloons.
The opening of the store follows a big round of acquisitions for Heritage, which formed in 2022 with the purchase of the banner Cardenas Markets. It also bought the Chicago-based Tony’s Fresh Market banner in 2022.
In early October, the company promoted Eric Stover to president and named Prabash Coswatte chief operating officer.
