The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) has named the winners of its Idaho Potato video contest. Participants were given a chance to win up to $3,000 by submitting a short video to one of three categories: “MASHED!” (culinary demos), “Anytime/Anywhere” (general spud love) or “At the Truck” (scenes at the Big Idaho Potato Truck).

“Video is fast becoming the preferred medium for news and entertainment,” says Frank Muir, president and CEO of IPC. “We know there are countless Idaho potato fans across the country and we wanted to see just how creative they could get in front of the camera. We’re very pleased with the response and are excited to share the winning entries through the IPC’s social media channels.”

Consumers entered any one or all three categories:

  • MASHED! is the IPC’s take on the hit Food Network show CHOPPED! Entrants recorded themselves creating a potato masterpiece using fresh, frozen and/or dehydrated Idaho potatoes.

  • MISH MASH or “Anytime/Anywhere” is a catch-all category for unique and imaginative entries showing how tater fans express their spud love.

  • “At The Truck” is for those who were lucky enough to see the Big Idaho Potato Truck live and in-person during the contest period, and able to film a short video with it.

In the MASHED! category, Brock Cutler of Lehi, Utah was awarded first place for “Idaho Potato Cinnamon Rolls.” In the ANYTIME/ANYWHERE category, Andrew Garcia of Nampa, Idaho was awarded first place for “Spudward Bound.” In the AT THE TRUCK category, Roxanne Watson of Nanuet, N.Y. was awarded first place for “Nanuet Organ Donation Event.”

The entries were judged 100 percent on creativity. The grand prize winner of each category received $1,000 and the six runners up (two in each category) received a swag bag and a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho potatoes. The first ten online submissions also received a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho potatoes.
