logo in a gray background | People are suckers for supermarket grand openings. So it makes perfect sense for The Original Gourmet Food Co. to give away free samples of its gourmet lollipops at supermarket and big-box store grand openings.

“Starting in June, anytime a store working with me on our lollipops has a grand opening we are going to send to the store, at our charge, 2,400 lollipops for free to be given out over a two-day period,” Richard Alimenti, CEO of the Salem, N.H.-based manufacturer of gourmet lollipops, cookies, fudge and other treats tells Grocery Headquarters. “We’ll conduct a demo in the store just to give away free lollipops to everybody in line as part of our marketing plan for 2012.” That marketing plan also entails teaming with magazine distributor Mercury to handle Original Gourmet Lollipop displays in stores. Mercury personnel will now stock and maintain the displays that are placed at the front of the store to display Original Gourmet Lollipops at point-of-purchase. The displays can be attached to a variety of surfaces, including walls, register poles and the sides of soft drink coolers by magnets, hog ties or screws. For more information, visit www.ogfc.net.
