Part of the Sweet Ticket promotion, the six winners learned cake-decorating tips and tricks firsthand from the Cake Boss himself at his bakery, Carlo's Bakery and Cake Factory in Jersey City. The winners were: Janet Page, Chillicothe, Ohio; Dana Cerrito, Westland, Mich.; Frankie Petitto, Belle Mead, N.J.; Sherry Warlick, Hiram, Ga.; Sherril Chastain, Fort Smith, Ark.; and Sandra Walters, Phoenix, Ariz. In total, there were 24 Cake Boss fans (six winners with three guests each) at the private cake decorating class. The attendees learned to decorate using Cake Boss Fabulous Fondant, Rolled Fondant and Decorative Icing and walked away with a cake authentic to the Cake Boss look and taste. Below are some of the tips Buddy provided during the class:

  • Although fondant can be intimidating, Buddy referred to it as the "Houdini of cake decorating;" it is easy to roll with a rolling pin and cover a cake to hide any imperfections.

  • Remix or whip your pre-made/canned frosting for a smoother texture; and you will need at least two cans of frosting to properly frost a cake.

  • Place the fully-cooled cake in the refrigerator until stiff to ensure easy cutting and decorating.
