GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spartan Stores here said its Glen’s Markets banner has begun testing a loyalty card and expected to roll it out to all 34 locations within the next few months.

The “yes card” program, which debuted in Cheboygan, Mich., allows customers who purchase certain products — marked with blue “earn” signs — to accumulate points, which can be used to obtain free or discounted products marked with red “exchange” signs, according to information on the chain’s website for the card, myyesrewards.com.

“We expect this program to garner much richer insights of our consumer preferences and purchasing behavior, which will allow us to be even more effective with our marketing, merchandising and pricing strategies.” Dennis Eidson, president and chief executive officer, said in a conference call discussing earnings last week.
