QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop and Giant Food stores have cut prices on salad dressings, cooking oils and condiments as part of their transformation to Ahold’s “Low Prices Every Day” program. The retailer here said it has lowered prices on more than 70% of store categories since launching the program in late 2006. Price cuts in the salad oils and dressing category include lower shelf prices on olive oil, mayonnaise, sauces and marinades, shortening, pickles, olives, vinegar, jarred pickles and pepper, the company said. The reduced prices in stores are supported by cooperation with manufacturers, sharper product selection, and by internal cost reductions, observers said.
