SALISBURY, N.C. — Those who have made New Year's resolutions to lose weight are finding help at their local supermarket.

"We're here to help you make some healthy changes for 2010," Food Lion states on its website. An online guide called "New Year, New You," is filled with New Year's resolution ideas like drinking more water, taking a walk during lunch and starting dinner with a salad. There's also information about carbohydrates, fiber, fat and protein.

"These useful and easy-to-follow tips will help you plan meals and choose nutritional foods," Food Lion states.

Meanwhile, Ukrop's Super Markets, Richmond, Va., is promoting its registered dietitian services on a "Get Healthy in 2010" link on its site. Ukrop's dietitians can provide nutrition counseling in areas like allergies, gluten-free living, diabetes management, heart disease and weight management.

Price Chopper Supermarkets, Schenectady, N.Y., wished its Facebook fans a "Happy 2010" with an exclusive coupon offer for Price Chopper-brand steambag frozen vegetables for 50 cents. Price Chopper also asked its Facebook fans to list their New Year's resolutions.
