Dannon Danimals and Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school wellness program, announced their renewed collaboration to inspire kids to fuel up with nutritious choices and get active for at least 60 minutes a day, building on the success of their inaugural promotion in 2015-16.

Focused around a national back-to-school retail promotion, parents and kids across the country are encouraged to search for one of five “golden” Danimals Bongo smoothies and/or Danimals Squeezables low fat yogurts for a chance to win a field day for their school with NFL players. As part of its mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible, Dannon is awarding a total of $30,000 to the winning schools ($6,000 each) to help make their schools and communities healthier environments, company officials say.

“Dannon is committed to childhood health and wellness and that begins by providing healthful options and encouraging children and adults to enjoy our products as part of a healthy diet,” says Angela Grist, marketing director for Dannon’s kids’ portfolio. “Our collaboration with Fuel Up to Play 60 last year engaged and motivated parents and kids around nutrition and physical activity, and the promotion touched tens of millions of parents and kids, with more than 3,000 children participating in the field day events. We’re excited to bring it back again this year.”

More than 25 million packages (an increase of nearly 6 million packages over the 2015 promotion) of Danimals Smoothies and Danimals Squeezables low fat yogurt will highlight the promotion to find the five “Golden Bongos,” the much beloved Danimals character. Food retailers nationwide have started to receive products in stores and the search for the “Golden Bongos” will be active through October 31. The local field days with NFL players will occur in spring 2017 for the winning students and their schools.

As a result of the 2015-16 promotion, Dannon Danimals and Fuel Up to Play 60 awarded six schools with field day events and a $5,000 grant to implement health and wellness programming in each school.

“Having the field day experience at our school with an NFL player is an experience I know our students will remember for the rest of their lives,” said Steven Baker, Principal Atkins School, Saginaw, Mich. recipient of the 2015 school field day. “I am confident that the messages shared will have a long and lasting impact.”

NFL players Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants wide receiver, and Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons quarterback, along with Disney stars Rowan Blanchard of Girl Meets World, and Jake Short of Lab Rats: Elite Force, will also be lending their support again this year via a national television advertisement and other media promotions. The ad will air across Disney XD, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network channels in addition to other digital channels.

“As the nation’s largest and most successful school health and wellness program, Fuel Up to Play 60 empowers youth in schools nationwide to create healthy changes to their educational environments, and to improve students’ nutrition and physical activity habits,” says Mark Leitner, executive vice president, Fuel Up to Play 60. “We are excited to once again partner with Dannon on this year’s promotion and to continue to raise awareness of the importance of eating nutritious foods, including dairy, and to getting active for at least 60 minutes each and every day.”
