PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Nabisco Foods Group Food Service Division is about to announce the availability of a new, healthier ingredient for processed foods -- Fleischmann's Egg Beaters. The same product currently sold in the supermarket will be packaged for commercial use in 30-pound pails. It is scheduled for introduction at the 1994 Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting and Food Expo to be held June 25 to 29 in Atlanta.
"We see great potential for this ingredient," says Dicki Lulay, the division's director of business development. "We have a 99% real egg product containing zero fat and zero cholesterol. It fits right in with the healthy product image most food processors are trying to promote."
Egg Beaters has the same nutritional profile as whole eggs with fewer than half the calories. It is homogenized and pasteurized to ensure uniformity and is salmonella negative as determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture method of analysis. To ensure maximum shelf life of at least one year, the product is shipped and stored frozen.
