Emmi Roth USA Sponsors Professional Cheese Education and Certification

Emmi Roth USA, a charter sponsor of the 2012 Certified Cheese Professional Exam administered by the American Cheese Society, is proud to congratulate the inaugural class of ACS Certified Cheese Professionals. As part of its commitment to cheese education, Emmi Roth USA has announced it will continue its sponsorship next year for the industry’s premiere certification.

The Certified Cheese Professional Exam is the only exam of its kind, and was established in 2012 to encourage improved standards of comprehensive cheese knowledge and service. This year, 150 people studied for and took the three-hour, 150-question, multiple-choice exam at the ACS annual conference and competition in Raleigh, N.C., on Aug, 1. On Sept. 3, ACS announced that 121 individuals passed the exam, earning the distinguished title of ACS Certified Cheese Professional, or ACS CCP. Emmi Roth USA’s own Michele Haram, Regional Sales Manager, was among them. The test has proven to be so popular that more than 25 people are already signed up to take the exam in 2013. Those who pass the test are awarded a lapel pin, jacket patch and certificate. “The ACS Certified Cheese Professional Exam is the first time professionals in the cheese industry have had the opportunity to earn national certification in their field,” said Jodie Wische, Vice President of Sales - National Accounts at Emmi Roth USA. “Emmi Roth USA is exceptionally proud of our role in being a charter sponsor of this year’s exam. We are honored to support the people who support our products in the marketplace, and we are fully committed to sponsoring the exam again in 2013.” Aspiring cheese professionals need 4,000 hours of work experience and formal education just to be eligible to take the exam. This year, most of the test-takers came from the U.S., although Canada and Australia were also represented. The ACS plans to maintain an online directory of individuals with the ACS CCP designation, to be used for reference by organizations and individuals seeking qualified employees.
