ROSWELL, Ga. -- Harry's Farmers Market here said last week sales improved 5.2% to $33.6 million for the 13-week third quarter ended Nov. 3.

> For the first 39 weeks of this year, net sales rose 3% to $102.4 million, and the net loss was $1 million, an improvement of 58.4% over the net loss in the first three quarters of 1998.

Harry's attributed the improvement in sales for both the quarter and year-to-date on the opening of two new Harry's In a Hurry Stores, partially offset by a decline in same-store sales.

The company also said that while the previously proposed sales of its distribution center has been terminated, it has entered into an agreement with a new party that will buy the facility for $4.8 million. The sale is subject to an inspection period ending Jan. 31. If the buyer decides to go ahead, the party will have until Feb. 29 to close the deal.
