MADISON, Wis. -- Oscar Mayer Foods Corporation has become the second national brand meat products manufacturer to issue a recall, this time for more than 28,000 pounds of possibly listeria-contaminated product.

report of consumer illness in Kansas City, Mo. A positive result for Listeria monocytogenes prompted the company to issue the recall last week.

The affected products include the Oscar Mayer All American Variety Pack, 10 ounce, and the Oscar Mayer Club Sandwich Variety Pack 9 ounce. According to company officials, both products bear a Jan. 12 date in the upper left corner and back of the package. Additionally, the packages bear EST 537A or P-1449 inside the USDA inspection mark.

At this point, FSIS has not linked this case with the nationwide listeriosis outbreak, which remains under joint investigation by the USDA and the Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta.
