Riviana Foods Earns Non-GMO Project Verification Across Rice Brands

In response to consumers’ desire to make more informed choices about eating foods made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), Riviana Foods Inc.'s rice brands—a wholly owned subsidiary of Ebro Foods, S.A.—have earned the Non‐GMO Project Verification on its rice products. The brands include Minute, Carolina, Mahatma, Success, Blue Ribbon, Comet, Adolphus, Gourmet House and RiceSelect. The verification is yet another way Riviana is demonstrating its commitment to providing consumers with up-to-date product information and responding to consumer-driven trends, say company officials. 

The Non-GMO Project is the only entity in North America that offers third-party verification for products made according to best practices for GMO avoidance. The Non-GMO Project is the most rigorous and sought after program in North America for verifying the integrity of food products as being produced with non-GMO ingredients.

Over 175 rice products from Minute, Carolina, Mahatma, Success, Blue Ribbon, Comet, Adolphus, Gourmet House and RiceSelect will carry the new verification seal on the front of the packages, where it is easy to spot. Riviana rice products bearing the Non-GMO Project Verified logo began appearing on grocery shelves across the country in 2016. The Non-GMO Project seal is the most trusted and recognized sign that a product is produced using best practices for GMO avoidance.
