Shipt has begun same-day deliveries for Winn-Dixie supermarkets in 13 Florida markets and later this month plans to launch deliveries for Target stores in the Northwest.

The online grocery marketplace now delivers from Winn-Dixie locations in the Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Naples, Orlando, Sarasota, South Florida, Space Coast, St. Augustine, Tallahassee, Tampa and Treasure Coast metropolitan areas.

In support of the Winn-Dixie launch, Shipt members who sign up for an annual membership will get a free two-week trial and $15 off their first order. Besides grocery products, Shipt members will have access to Winn-Dixie’s full selection of produce and household items via the Shipt app.

“We are continually looking for more ways to meet every need of our customers and the communities we serve,” Anthony Hucker, president and chief executive officer of Winn-Dixie parent Southeastern Grocers, said in a statement. “The partnership with Shipt provides our customers another way to shop and receive groceries right to their doorstep.”

With the move, more than 6 million households across Florida gain access to Winn-Dixie products delivered by Shipt. The online marketplace said it plans to add to its shopper network throughout Florida to support the Winn-Dixie deliveries.

“Florida residents have long been enthusiastic supporters of Shipt, and this partnership gives our loyal members access to Winn-Dixie in a completely new and convenient way,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Birmingham, Ala.-based Shipt. “As Shipt continues to grow, we are committed to bringing our members a diverse selection of products from their favorite trusted retailers across the country.”

Target continues rollout

Meanwhile, Target — which acquired Shipt in a $550 million deal in December 2017 — is set to go live with Shipt same-day delivery of more than 55,000 groceries, essentials, home, electronics, toys and other products in select Oregon, Idaho and Washington metro markets.

Plans call for the service to launch in the Eugene and greater Portland, Ore., areas on April 17 and in the Boise, Idaho, metro area and the Seattle and Spokane, Wash., markets on April 19. Overall, the rollout will give more than 2 million households across the Northwest access to Target products through Shipt.

“Same-day delivery was at the top of our list when we were thinking about ways to make shopping at Target even easier,” said Target executive vice president and chief operating officer John Mulligan. “Shipt’s personalized, customer-focused approach fits perfectly with our commitment to deliver a convenient, exceptional experience, and we’re excited to begin offering same-day service across the Northwest.”

Target customers who sign up before launch will receive an annual membership for $49, a savings of $50. Shipt said it’s adding more than 1,150 Shipt shoppers across the Northwest to be part of the team fulfilling orders.

“Shipt is expanding our footprint by bringing the convenience of personalized, same-day delivery to residents in each of these Northwest metro areas,” Smith said. “This is just the beginning of the sweeping expansion that Shipt and Target have planned for the year.”

About half of Target’s stores are slated to be participating in the Shipt service through early 2018, and most stores are expected to offer it by the holiday season. By the end of the year, the Shipt service is projected to be in nearly 180 markets, reaching 80 million households, and by the end of 2019, same-day delivery is expected to include all major product categories at Target.
