NORWALK, Conn. -- Stew Leonard's here has sweetened it's Valentine's Day catalog by bulking up on candy items and other goodies.
This is the second year Stew Leonard's has offered a Valentine's gift catalog. The latest promotes 65 items, 29 of them new and 25 containing candy. Items with candy ranged from $11.95 to $79.95.
"Right now, sales have generally been running 50% better than last year," said Clyde Mount, director of the gift center.
Among the new candy items are strawberry chocolate hearts imported from Holland, for $14.95, and a sweet treats medley that includes a giant Hershey kiss and a pound of the company's homemade S-moo-th mints, for $24.95.
Mount said an "I love you" mylar balloon anchored by Kisses, caramels and assorted hard candies makes its debut in the catalog.
"The chocolate-covered cherries, strawberries and blueberries are really popular," he added, "and the chocolate caramel corn and chocolate-covered peanut brittle are two other really big items."
