Waldbaum's Reopens Sandy-Damaged Store
MONTVALE, N.J. — A Waldbaum's supermarket in Rockaway, N.Y., that was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy reopened Friday, parent company A&P here said.

MONTVALE, N.J. — A Waldbaum's supermarket in Rockaway, N.Y., that was badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy reopened Friday, parent company A&P here said.
The 45,634-square-foot store was extensively renovated including the addition of new refrigerated cases, cold storage coolers, freezers, electronics and equipment. Walls and shelving units were also rebuilt prior to the reopening.
“We are excited to welcome our Belle Harbor neighbors back to our newly remodeled store,” Sam Martin, president and chief executive officer of A&P, said in a statement. “We are dedicated to rebuilding our stores in Sandy-impacted areas, and we have worked tirelessly to reopen as quickly as possible. Now we’re back and better than ever to serve our neighborhood customers as they continue to recover from the storm.”

The store included rebranded specialty departments including the Great Atlantic Seafood Market featuring fresh seafood supplied by North Coast Seafood, one of the only full-time government-inspected seafood processors in the Northeast. The Live Better Produce features items with Live Better factor tags to provide shoppers with clear wellness information at their fingertips when they shop.
This store’s newly rebranded Two Forks bakery section now offers premium cupcakes, an extensive selection of special-occasion cakes, exclusive OMG brownies and much more. In the updated Hartford Reserve deli department, customers will now enjoy an expanded line of domestic and imported cheeses from around the world.
