The GMDC Health Beauty Wellness Marketing Conference will take “personal care” of its attendees. Attendees at Global Market Development Center (GMDC) conferences can always expect something new. At the 2015 GMDC Health Beauty Wellness Marketing Conference the new program will be Beauty Immersion. “It’s an opportunity for retail and wholesale members to learn more about retail opportunities within the beauty and personal care category,” says Keith Wypyszynski, vice president of business development and chief member officer for Colorado Springs, Colo.-based GMDC. Beauty Immersion sessions will include U.S. Beauty Trends, Channel Specific “Winning in Beauty” strategies, and an Overview of Key Manufacturer Beauty and Personal Care Strategies. Wypyszynski says the sessions will be hosted by key marketing and sales executives from well-known beauty and personal care companies. The GMDC Health Beauty Wellness Marketing Conference will take place Oct. 1-5 at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge in Phoenix. As always, the main focus of the event is the appointment-only 10- and 20-minute Controlled Casual Conferences (CCC), meetings in which manufacturers present products to retail and wholesale companies. Wypyszynski says GMDC expects more than 600 attendees and thousands of meetings. In addition to the CCC appointments, there will be 40-minute Senior Executive Conferences for more in-depth, strategic discussions. Retailers and wholesalers can also see new products through the Preview Box, which delivers products to all the buyers before the show. Wypyszynski says there are more than 75 products in this year’s box. There is also the Showcase program, which allows further opportunities for buyers to schedule appointments with manufacturers, based on the buyers’ interest in the 100-plus showcase products. Exhibitors will also be presenting items on the show floor. Here is a sampling: Beiersdorf beinsdorf logo in a gray background | beinsdorfBeiersdorf officials will discuss two solutions for moisturizing skin while in the shower. Eucerin In-Shower Moisturizer provides fragrance-free moisture and is designed to be applied in the shower to make skin feel softer, smoother and healthier. The moisturizer is appropriate for everyday use, and the mild formula is free of fragrance and gentle on dry, sensitive skin, say officials for the Wilton, Conn.-based company. The formula is enriched with provitamin B5 (panthenol) to moisturize and soothe dry skin and to improve the condition of skin with regular use. The NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion line is available in four formulas. Hydrating In-Shower Body Lotion contains sea minerals to moisturize normal to dry skin. Smoothing In-Shower Body Lotion contains shea butter to help smooth dry skin. Nourishing In-Shower Body Lotion contains almond oil to nourish very dry skin. Cocoa Butter In-Shower Body Lotion contains cocoa butter to moisturize dry to very dry skin. Boiron The homeopathic medicine company Boiron will present Calendula Cream, which is made from natural active ingredients and helps promote healing of cuts, scrapes, chafing, minor burns and sunburn. Calendula Cream is paraben-free, features a light texture and can be used as a rejuvenating night cream, say company officials. The Newtown Square, Pa.-based company is also bringing its flagship Arnicare Gel and Cream, which temporarily relieves muscle pain and stiffness, swelling, and discoloration due to minor injuries, overexertion and falls. Arnicare Gel and Cream offer consumers an innovative, paraben-free alternative to camphor and menthol, add officials. Arnicare Gel and Cream contain the natural active ingredient Arnica montana (the Mountain Daisy). The cooling effect of Arnicare Gel is designed for fast pain relief, and its non-sticky, non-greasy formula is quickly absorbed by the skin. Brush Buddies Brush Buddies will display the Soniclean Pro One, which features sonic technology that offers 30,000 vibrations per minute to remove more plaque than a manual toothbrush. Its Soft DuPoint end-rounded nylon bristles clean the outer layers of the teeth, while the rubberized polishing cups in the middle are made for polishing the teeth. The head of the brush and batteries of the Soniclean Pro One can be replaced. Replacing the toothbrush head helps to reduce the spread of bacteria that has been associated with bad breath and gum disease. The Fontana, Calif.-based company will also show its Shopkins line of grocery-themed characters licensed from Moose Toys. The new oral care collection will feature Shopkins characters on powered and manual toothbrushes, travel kits, light up brushes, singing brushes, bandages, hand sanitizers and face tissues. The Brush Buddies Shopkins toothbrush collection features characters including Kooky Cookie, Apple Blossom and Strawberry Kiss.   DenTek dentek2 logo in a gray background | dentek2DenTek products will focus on aiding sensitive teeth, with DenTek Sensitive Extra Gentle Floss Picks. Soft-coated wire slides easily between teeth and is extra gentle on sensitive gums, officials add. For nighttime teeth grinding, DenTek offers DenTek Maximum Protection Dental Guard, an over-the-counter dental guard with a forming tray. The Dental Guard is made from BPA-free thermoplastic Diva International Diva International will feature The DivaCup, a reusable menstrual cup made of 100 percent healthcare grade silicone, and DivaWash, a botanically-enriched cleanser specifically formulated to preserve the silicone of The DivaCup. Hyland’s The latest from Los Angeles-based Hyland’s is Hyland’s 4 Kids Bumps ‘n Bruises with Arnica, an advanced topical ointment stick for kids. Company officials say it provides safe and effective relief for bruising, pain and swelling and contains Arnica Montana, a homeopathic remedy used for centuries to treat these conditions. “We intentionally created the packaging with colorful, goofy ‘Splat’ character faces to distract and delight kids as soon they see it,” says Les Hamilton, executive vice president. The 100 percent natural relief ointment stick comes packaged in a biodegradable, portable paper tube. Two other, new topical treatments are also in the mix from Hyland’s. The reformulated Leg Cramps Ointment is designed to complement the company’s oral treatments for leg cramps and offers relief of the pain and cramping in joints, legs, knees and feet. The dietary supplement is designed for people with type 2 diabetes, and helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels and fights cravings. Mason Vitamins will also present Argan Oil, an anti-aging product for skin, hair and nails. Another product that is gaining favor is peppermint oil, a digestive aid that promotes gastrointestinal comfort. The product features enteric coated soft gel to prevent the consumer from having the burping effect that oils cause, and aids in having the pill reabsorbed in the intestine and stomach. Any assortment that includes digestive products should include peppermint oil, says Gary Pigott, executive vice president of sales and marketing for the Miami Lakes, Fla.-based company. “Everyone was talking about probiotics, and I said we are missing enzymes,” he says. “Peppermint oil will become very popular in food, drug and mass.” Mueller Sports Medicine Mueller Sports Medicine will highlight the FaciaDerm PF Taping System, a pain relief system for plantar fasciitis. Each package of FaciaDerm contains seven applications, and each application is intended to provide 24 hours of relief from pain in the heel and arch. The tape is one size fits all, suitable for men and women, and is a patented technology that is different from kinesiology tape.   Penn Herb Co. The Olbas Inhaler has been gaining distribution in several stores, says Karen Page, national sales manager for the Philadelphia-based company. “Vicks inhaler is no longer on the market so there is a hole,” she says. “Olbas Inhaler is a natural inhaler with essential oils, so it is a great alternative when you are putting something in your nose that is near your brain.” Page adds that Olbas Inhalers are not habit forming and highly effective. They contain no preservatives, artificial flavors or color, and are not tested on animals. Penn Herb Co. also offers a clip strip or plastic tray, and both are available in six or 12 units.
