Whole Foods opens new store in Overland Park, Kansas
The Amazon-owned grocer also announced it is donating a refrigerated van to the food rescue nonprofit organization NourishKC.
Whole Foods Market opened its newest store in Overland Park, Kansas, on Wednesday.
The 45,791-square-foot store, located at 11900 Metcalf Ave., is a relocation of an existing store at 6621 W. 119th St., and features more than 750 locally sourced products.
The Amazon-owned grocer also announced it is donating a refrigerated van to the food rescue nonprofit organization NourishKC. The company is also making a donation to Pete’s Garden, a local charity that provides meals for food-insecure families, which will benefit the nonprofit’s Kids Feeding Kids Program.
“We are thrilled to continue serving the wonderful community of Overland Park with this new, larger location,” said Melissa Arnett, store team leader for Whole Foods Market, in a statement. “We’re excited to welcome our neighbors into the new store not only to grocery shop but to enjoy our upgraded coffee bar, classic prepared foods options and more space both inside and outside the store for gathering. I hope we can introduce Whole Foods Market’s knowledgeable team members, high quality standards for food and hand-picked selection of local products to even more customers in this community.”
The new store features a variety of departments and products, including:
A specialty department with artisan goods, such as sweets from Andre’s Confiserie Suisse, Christopher Elbow Chocolates and Askinosie Chocolate.
A grocery section with local goods, including eggs from Campo Lindo Farms, soda and tea from Boernsen Bees and tortillas from Yoli Tortilleria, a James Beard Award winner.
Full-service seafood and meat counters with chicken from Campo Lindo Farms, local grass-fed beef from Redger Farms and lamb from Theos Swallow Fork Ranch.
A wide selection of craft beers, including varieties from local breweries such as Free State Brewing Company, Fields & Ivy Brewery and Martin City Brewing Company.
A larger prepared foods section, including sushi from Kikka, hot food and salad bars, made-to-order sandwiches, rotisserie chicken and pizza.
A bakery with gluten-friendly baked goods, and local items from Emily Kate’s Bakery and Farm to Market Bread Co.
A body section that includes local products from Two Niles Company, Messner Bee Farms and Fire Lake Soapery.
