SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets said it plans to merge with Apple Community Pharmacy, Malta, N.Y., a local independent pharmacy, on Jan. 15.
“We look forward to providing the same outstanding personal and professional services that our neighbors have come to expect from us,” said owner, Robert Russell the soon-to-be pharmacy manager at the soon-to-be-built Malta Price Chopper pharmacy. “Given the support of Price Chopper’s pharmacy division, which serves as a resource to the chain’s 77 in-store pharmacies, I am confident that this merger will help us to leverage our expertise and further benefit our customers.”
“We are delighted to welcome Apple Community Pharmacy, a standout on the independent landscape, to our team,” said Vincent Mainella, vice president of pharmacy for Price Chopper, “This merger will bolster the continued growth of our pharmacy operations as we expand and enhance the menu of products and services that we offer.”
Price Chopper will operate its newest pharmacy inside Apple Community Pharmacy’s existing location, complete with the chain’s signature programs — Diabetes AdvantEdge, free antibiotics, Rx AdvantEdge, Housecalls deliveries, private counseling services, immunization, compounding, etc. — until construction of the new ‘Pharmacy and Home Health Care Center’ inside the Malta supermarket is complete.
