The Academy Awards of online excellence, known as the Webby Awards, has named Albertsons as a finalist for the “Best Apps & Software – Shopping & Retail” category, the grocer announced.

The grocer is encouraging its customers and those in the industry to vote for them in the Webby People’s Voice Awards as well, from now until April 18, on the Webby Awards website. Companies nominated for a Webby are automatically included in the Webby People’s Voice Awards.

The Webby Awards noted that the company was nominated for developing “a set of tools within its mobile app that bridge the gap between in-store and online shopping.”

“Nominees like Albertsons Cos. set the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Nick Borenstein, general manager of The Webby Awards, in a press release. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 13,000 entries we received this year.”

The 28th Annual Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

“By embracing the concept of a ‘Versatile Shopping Experience,’ Albertsons Cos. has created a seamless and personalized experience for planning, shopping, inspiration, meal planning, and even health and pharmacy,” according to the organization.
