Giant Eagle is making life a little easier for shoppers with a pair of app additions.

Shoppers can now use SNAP benefits through the Instacart app and website. Customers will have to add their card information as a form of payment in their profile on the Instacart app, and then at checkout will have to determine how much of their SNAP benefits they will want to use on their order.

Giant Eagle’s myPerks program can also be used on purchases.

Giant Eagle shoppers can also use Upside’s app to take advantage of cash back promotions in three areas: grocery, fuel, and convenience.

Giant Eagle is the first on Upside’s platform to offer cash back in three separate categories.

The launch follows a pilot program which started in September 2023, and since then Giant Eagle has discovered the following:

  • In grocery, stores are using the app to attract and retain new and infrequent customers that are usually hard to reach, and results show 10% of Upside users are new to Giant Eagle and 40% in infrequent shoppers that are now coming to the store more often

  • Over 56% of new/non-loyalty users chose to join myPerks during their first use of the app
