Shipt launches new rewards program for its personal shoppers
The Summit Seeker Program rewards delivery personnel for their service, no matter how frequently they work.
Target-owned delivery company Shipt has unveiled a new rewards program that offers its personal shoppers perks such as grocery credits and cash-back on gas purchases.
Birmingham, Alabama-based Shipt said Thursday that the Summit Seeker Program rewards shoppers for their service, irrespective of how frequently they work. More than 80% of Shipt shoppers spend less than 10 hours a week making deliveries, the company reported, adding that it aims to reward “quality and not quantity of shops.”
“We know our customers appreciate shoppers who go above and beyond, and our new Shipt Summit Seeker Program recognizes that extra effort shoppers put in,” Shipt Chief Operating Officer Raj Kapoor said in a statement. “Even someone who only shops a few hours a week can take advantage of this program. Because the Shipt Summit Seeker Program was built in collaboration with shoppers, it rewards them for high-quality service with some of the things shoppers value most.”
The program has three tiers—Wayfinder, Trailblazer and Summit Star—based on personal shoppers' customer ratings and on-time delivery performance. To reach Wayfinder status, shoppers must have at least a 4.7 rating from customers, a 90% on-time delivery percentage and complete at least 10 orders. Trailblazers have a 4.8 rating, a 95% on-time delivery percentage and complete at least 20 orders. Summit is for shoppers who have a 4.9 customer rating or higher, a 98% on-time delivery status and complete at least 30 orders.
Shipt said it surveyed 7,500 of its shoppers in March, and more than 80% said gas discounts were the most valuable perk. That prompted the company to establish a gas perk for shoppers in its Summit Star tier, where shoppers can earn up to $1 per gallon in cash for two fill-ups in a 60-day period. Anything beyond two fill-ups can earn Summit Star shoppers another 25 cents per gallon.
Seventy percent of Shipt shoppers said grocery credits were valuable them, so Shipt is providing Summit Star-tier shoppers a $50 credit to be used at their retailer of choice.
Shipt said it's also partnering with insurance provider Avibra to give eligible shoppers injury-protection insurance, $1,000 in life insurance coverage, $10,000 in accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and a variety of other benefits, such as a prescription savings program and counseling on housing, debt and credit.
