Shipt names new tech exec

Ipparthi has spearheaded projects such as the company’s recent launch of its student membership model, which caters to the needs of college students, and Shipt’s Summit Seeker Program, which rewards shoppers for high standards of service.

Target-owned delivery service Shipt has named Smrutha Ipparthi chief technology and product officer, the Birmingham, Alabama-based tech company announced Tuesday. 

Ipparthi, who previously served in Shipt’s technology organization, “will have an expanded role in shaping the company’s user experience and infrastructure, aligning product development with innovative technological advancements, and enhancing the overall experience for customers, shoppers and partners,” the company said in a statement. 

In her new role, Ipparthi will oversee integration of technological solutions companywide. She has spearheaded projects such as the company’s recent launch of its student membership model, which caters to the needs of college students, and Shipt’s Summit Seeker Program, which rewards shoppers for high standards of service.

Shipt CEO Kamau Witherspoon said her ability to drive the company’s tech efforts “will be instrumental to our growth.”
