FMI — The Food Industry Association is calling on early-stage tech companies (with under $5 million in funding) in the food industry space to put their best foot forward for its annual FMItech Pitch Competition.

Three finalists will make their pitch live at the 2025 Midwinter Executive Conference at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Fla., on Jan. 30, 2025, and the winner will get the chance to make their pitch to industry executives during the show’s keynote address on Feb. 1.

Eligible companies must submit a three-minute pitch video by Sept. 6. The judges will narrow the semi-finalists down to six teams on Oct. 1, and the final three will be chosen on Nov. 1.

Finalists will also receive a complimentary registration to the 2025 Midwinter Executive Conference and a slot in the B2B program, the FMItech Exchange.

Augmodo, a tech company with a goal of augmenting the retail workforce, was the winner of last year’s FMItech Pitch Competition.

The company’s concept involved suiting up retail and grocery workers with AI and wearable cameras to improve ecommerce inventory and picking.

Doug Baker, vice president, Industry Relations, with FMI recently caught up with Ross Finman, CEO and founder of Augmodo. The two talked about how business was going for Augmodo since the company won the Pitch Competition as well as tips on creating a video.

Take a watch.
