FMI Midwinter Executive Conference rescheduled for March
Postponed by Omicron concerns in January, the in-person event will go on in Orlando
January 20, 2022
After putting a “pause” on its January Midwinter Executive Conference due to heightened concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19, FMI – The Food Industry Association on Thursday announced plans to reschedule its signature event for March 28-31 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
“While we paused our Midwinter event plans with purpose and patience, our members have urged us to hit ‘play’ for our first in-person gathering in more than two years,” said FMI president and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin. “We look forward to hosting this forum for high-impact industry dialog at the conclusion of the first quarter 2022.”
In a statement on the FMI website, Sarasin continued, “Pushing pause on the event was not a decision we made lightly, albeit necessary as you were experiencing tremendous supply chain pressure, exacerbated by absenteeism associated with the pandemic.
“I’d like to take a moment to share my heartfelt gratitude to you for supporting our decision to delay — which further demonstrates that we are stronger together.”
Registration, housing information and an updated ageneda will be available on Friday, January 21, via the Midwinter website.
The FMI Midwinter Executive Conference was originally scheduled for Jan. 21-24 in Orlando, but given the recent winter surge in the Omicron variant, the association announced on Jan. 11 that it would be putting a pause on the event, “at least for the time being.” The event was canceled in 2021 due to COVID.
