BJ’s Wholesale Club is lowering prices at the pump this month—but its members must do something in return to get the reward.

The Marlborough, Massachusetts-based membership-based retailer is offering 50 cents off per gallon of gasoline to members who spend at least $150 in the same day, BJ’s announced on Monday. The deal will take place through the month of April.

The promotion requires members to shop in-club or place a curbside or in-store pickup order first and redeem the discount at the pump on the same day.

For 2023, BJ’s is also looking to expand it gas station footprint to new clubs as well as existing locations without gas stations.

“We've seen such tremendous share growth over the past few years on fuel, and we expect that to only accelerate,” William C. Werner, BJ’s EVP, said at the club’s investor day event in March, according to a transcript from financial services site Sentieo. Werner also told investors that BJ’s plans to add another 15 gas stations this year.

BJ’s Wholesale Club currently operates 237 clubs and 165 BJ’s Gas locations in 18 states.
